More About Gareth
Gareth passionately believes in the power of the author visit. There's a certain magic about it, unlike any other kind of school visit or trip. Gareth can bring this magic, and much, much more. His experience of working with children for over 20 years (and in SLT), his regular TV appearances, and workshops at various book festivals and other events give you the peace of mind that he not only can but will deliver an effective, memorable day for your children and staff.
His sessions are vibrant, motivating and showcase his enthusiasm and passion for reading and writing. Most importantly, he leaves a lasting and, hopefully, measurable impact after he is gone, leaving the children (and staff) wanting more and with an increased desire to read and write.
Gareth uses a lot of storytelling across his workshops because it is a powerful tool across Early Years and the Primary curriculum. It can help children to develop and explore ideas as there is no written evidence of their "mistakes". As well as building confidence, you may be surprised at some undiscovered talent and the ability of your less-confident writers.
He is a professional member of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE). You can visit their website here and find him in their Member Directory. For your peace of mind, he is fully DBS checked and available on the update service.
He is a Patron of Reading in several schools across the East Midlands. Click the PoR badge to find out more.
